My Bum is on the Swedish

IKEA

I forgot to mention I went to Ikea on the weekend before my exam instead of studying. I bought a coffee table, some clothes storage things that I desperately need, wine rack, shoe basket thing, whole bunch of clothes hangers. And a cheese grater. And some lightbulbs. Ikea makes me want so much crap.

So to compliment my love for Swedish designed homewares I am giving you some lovely music from the land of ABBA, The Cardigans and this chick.

First off the rank is Jonas “The Jewel” Petterson’s electro-pop project Juvelen. His most popular track following below, some say he has a Prince-esque sound going on. You judge.

Hanna I know I never ever did do you right but I tried to be honest about how I knew that you and me could never be quite the big love we’re always dreaming about

Juvelen - Hanna

Next, an awesome remix from The Twelves (I love those guys) of a Zeigeist favourite: Humanitarianism - off their last release The Neverending Love. Shame they’re no longer together.

A million of worse things; worse than kissing you. An angel with black wings will finally prove that - this - is - love

Zeigeist - Humanitariansim (The Twelves Remix)

Capping off this Sweden-fueled barrage - two lads from the west coast (of Sweden that is) Henning Fürst and Eric Berglund of The Tough Alliance retooling the already brilliant Hung Up On A Dream from The Zombies. And doing a great job at that keeping the psychadelic feel but dispelling the hazy production. Love it, everything these guys touch turns gold.

Well I remember yesterday just drifting slowly through a crowded street with neon darkness shimmering through the haze. A sea of faces rippling in the heat and through the nameless changing crowd a sweet vibration seemed to fill the air. I stood astounded staring hard at men with flowers resting in their hair

The Tough Alliance - Hung Up On A Dream

OOooooooH Ohhh OOHhh!

Omegle

Have you seen this thing? Hilarious! Try it some time.

Caution: This song will make you dance. I do not take any responsibility for your grooving actions. Kings of Convenience’s Erlend Øye takes awesome to a new level with this sexy bassline and airy guitarwork. Do yourself a favour and listen.

So many people telling me one way. So many people telling me to stay. Never had time to have my mind made up. Caught in a motion that I don’t wanna stop

The Whitest Boy Alive - Burning

This is where I got the title of the post from. Perfectly identical to the intro right? Close at least. You know what else - I heard this on a Dulux commercial the other day, or a Cadbury favourites ad. One of them. More exposure couldn’t be a bad thing so give Port O’Brien a demo.

Yes I understand; I cannot live on this land. But does that truly mean I have seen all that can be seen? As for now I will stay in the oven; I will bake. As you sit down to pray into the river I will wade

Port O’Brien - I Woke Up Today

I’m getting a little tired now so this one will be brief: This song reminds me of those tribal soundtracks my mother used to play to put me to sleep when I was a boy. Or maybe I just have sleep on the mind. Either way, it’s a peaceful remix.

I was way too young when I left your side though I doubt it much it would have changed my stray ways if I had lingered on.

Oh I miss her heart and I hope it heals. I’ve seen it bleed when I wasn’t supposed to see; it was not for me.

You should grow up with a strong heartbeat that follows you in your moment of fear and solitude - fear and solitude

The Tough Alliance - Taken Too Young
